{"id":3708,"date":"2025-01-27T13:32:42","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T12:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/categorisation-of-companies-and-its-impact-on-document-management-obligations\/"},"modified":"2025-03-18T22:59:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-18T21:59:26","slug":"categorisation-of-companies-and-its-impact-on-document-management-obligations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/en\/categorisation-of-companies-and-its-impact-on-document-management-obligations\/","title":{"rendered":"Categorisation of companies and its impact on document management obligations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Company categorization is a key element of document management in any organization.<\/p>\n<p>It specifies the obligations regarding the development and maintenance of filing plans and schedules, and the obligations regarding the disposal of documents, ensuring that companies comply with all legal norms and standards for document management.<\/p>\n<h2>Companies are divided into 3 categories based on their responsibilities and the type of activity they carry out:<\/h2>\n<h3>Category I companies<\/h3>\n<p>This includes state institutions and public law bodies, which are obliged to draw up both a registry regulations and a <a href=\"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/registraturny-plan-co-obsahuje-a-kto-ho-musi-mat\/\">registry plan<\/a>. This category ensures that important documents are properly stored and properly managed to ensure their integrity and availability. Documents may be discarded (shredded) only with the consent of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.<\/p>\n<h3>Companies II. Categories<\/h3>\n<p>This includes organisations that are not included in Category I but are obliged to draw up at least a registry plan. These organisations must ensure that their documents are properly recorded and that their <a href=\"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/archivacia-dokumentov\/\">preservation and archiving<\/a> are ensured. Documents may be discarded (shredded) only with the consent of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.<\/p>\n<h3>Companies III. Categories<\/h3>\n<p>Small entities that are not required to draw up a <a href=\"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/registraturny-poriadok\/\">filing system<\/a> or a filing plan, but have to follow the basic conditions for document management. These obligations help to ensure that even small organisations have a basic system to record and protect their documents.<\/p>\n<p>The correct categorisation of companies therefore determines what responsibilities an organisation has in managing its records.<\/p>\n<p>The category of the originator of <a href=\"https:\/\/fmservis.sk\/\">the registry records<\/a> (documents) is determined by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, namely by the competent state archive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you need assistance with the categorisation application process, we at F.M.
